The Easter Jeep Safari is an annual event on the hallowed grounds of Moab, Utah where off-roading enthusiasts gather to celebrate the terrain and the toys that take them there.

Celebrating its 57th year, Jeep was front and center once again with some 20,000 in attendance. It made the most of the opportunity by unveiling seven new concept vehicles from a 1978 Cherokee 4xe to 470 horsepower Wrangler Rubicon Scrambler 392. Today, we’ll take a quick dive into each.

Magneto 3.0

As one might establish from its name, this is the third time that Jeep arrived at the even with a Magneto concept. This time, it’s more capable than ever before as it sports an electric motor with an adjustable power dial.

Drivers can go anywhere between 285 and 650 horsepower depending on their needs on the trail. It also features a new two-stage power regen mode, a new hill descent mode, and little nips and tucks at the body to improve everyday life with such a wild beast. We’d love to see Jeep add part of this tech to its future electrification roadmap.

Take everything that’s enviro-friendly from the Magneto 3.0 and swap it out with a big bad V8 and you’d almost have the Scrambler 392. Based on a four-door Wrangler Unlimited, this now-two-door pickup also benefits from a 470 horsepower HEMI V8 under the hood. It also gets carbon fiber body panels and an air suspension that can offer up to 5.5 inches of additional clearance. That’s tall enough for 40-inch tires.

Gladiator Rubicon Sideburn

Jeep didn’t leave its actual pickup truck out of the fun and games though. The Gladiator Rubicon Sideburn is an extreme off-roaders dream with 37-inch tires, a custom grille that folds down to act as a bench, a set of detachable LED auxiliary lights, and a special carbon fiber and steel sport bar between the bed and the cabin. The Swiss Army Knife cargo bed is a concept itself but we’d love to see Jeep Performance Parts offer it sooner rather than later.

Grand Wagoneer Overland

Not every concept at Jeep Easter Safari is a hardcore off-roader though. The Grand Wagoneer Overland is the perfect vehicle for a cozy and comfortable outing into the great outdoors. Both the second and third row seats are gone in favor of a truck bed-liner covered lounge space. On top of the liner, Jeep added plush carpet, throw pillows, and more. The rearmost sunroof is gone too in favor of a porthole that allows access to a roof-top tent that can be put up in moments.

1978 Cherokee 4xe

Maybe the biggest surprise of the show is this classic Cherokee with modern electrified power. Underneath the restored body is the same powertrain that one would get in the modern Wrangler 4xe. So it gets a four-cylinder plug-in hybrid engine along with an eight-speed automatic and four-wheel drive. The interior also gets an update with a modern dash and new seats.

Of all the Jeeps at the event, the Rubicon 4xe Departure is probably the wildest looking Wrangler that anyone out there could emulate with currently available parts. It has a modest 2-inch lift and 37-inch tires. It gets the same fold-down tubular grille guard that the Sunburn has. The tubular tailgate offers additional storage and multiple mounting points for the spare tire. On top of that, it gets tubular doors, rock lights, and header-mounted LED auxiliary lights that can swivel up if the windshield is folded down.

Perhaps the least shocking concept at the event is the most attainable. The Rubicon 4xe features magenta paint, an updated seven-slot grille, and 37-inch tires. A unique Jeep Easter Safari graphic sits atop the hood and ahead of that is a Warn Zeon winch should this Wrangler meet a trail it can’t conquer quite so easily.
