The 2024 Honda Passport hits dealerships this fall, but this is your chance to get a sneak peek at it before you can see it in person!
More versatility and more adventurous with updated styling. That’s how Honda is describing the 2024 Honda Passport. Along with better performance, expanded cabin storage space, and a striking all-black special edition, the 2024 Honda Passport can be customized with 20-inch wheels, grille treatment, and black fender flares.
We did rank the 2023 Honda Passport as one of the Best Two-Row Mid-Size SUVs of 2023, so we have high hopes for the upcoming 2024 Passport. Only time will tell if the upgrades are enough to keep a high spot amongst competitors like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Subaru Outback, and the Hyundai Santa Fe. You don’t have to wait for a full review of the 2024 Honda Passport, though! Here’s your very own sneak peek.
We had to wait for the full list of updated specs, but they are in! Honda stacked the 2024 Passport pretty well. It comes with a bunch of standard driver-assist technologies across the entire lineup. Some of them include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, and a rear seat passenger reminder. It doesn’t end there, though. Front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring with a cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights are also standard. A multi-angle rearview camera has dynamic guidelines to assist with backing up, too.
Idle-stop, a remote engine start, hill start assist, one-touch turn indicators, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are all also standard. The cabin has standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Qi-compatible wireless charging, and four USB-C charging ports. A 215-watt audio system that includes seven speakers and a subwoofer is installed at every trim level, but the Elite trim has a 540-watt system with 10 speakers. Every Passport has a maximum of 50.5 cu.-ft. of cargo space. The 2024 passport has a 5,000 lb tow capacity, too.
After introducing the TrailSport in 2022, Honda kicked it up another notch this year. The 2024 Honda Passport TrailSport is even more off-road capable than previous models. It’s equipped with all-terrain tires and 18-inch wheels. The 8.1 inches of ground clearance should also help in taking the 2024 Passport TrailSport off paved roads.
A torque-vectoring AWD system, the i-VTM4, helps with traction and control. That i-VTM4 system routes torque to wherever it’s most beneficial, sending 70% of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels and then continuously apportioning 100% of that torque between the rear wheels.
The cabin has orange contrast stitching on the steering wheel, door panels, and the seats. A TrailSport logo has been embroidered on the front seat head restraints. It has special floor mats, too. Another TrailSport exclusive is heated windshield wiper parking areas. What is that? Well, that’s Honda’s way of saying there are heating elements in the glass underneath the wipers when they aren’t in motion. The area that the wipers rest on are actually heated so that they don’t get frozen in place in frigid conditions.
Another highlight of the 2024 Honda Passport is the new Black Edition. As you’d imagine, the Black Edition has exterior and interior styling that earns the name. A coat of Crystal Black Pearl covers the outside, though it’s also available in Sonic Gray, Platinum White, and Radiant Red. The Black Edition also has black-painted 20-inch alloy wheels, a blacked-out grille, black headlight trim, black side trim, black door handles, black window trim, and special Black Edition badging on the tailgate and grille. The color scheme continues inside but adds red contrast stitching to the seats, door panels, and steering wheel. Red accent lighting also illuminates the doors, dash, and center console.
Inventory is starting to arrive in dealerships already, but model selection may be limited until more Passports show up. In the meantime, you can read our full 2023 Honda Passport review and take a look at our New vs Used: Honda Passport feature, which compares the 2022 Passport to a 2019 Passport.
