What is New for the 2025 GMC Yukon

GMC rolls out a comprehensive mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 Yukon, which is part of the fifth generation that debuted in 2021. Changes over the 2024 model, that we review here, include a fresh front fascia, new exterior lighting animations, and available 24” wheels.

Both V8 engines carryover, but the Duramax diesel sees a slight output increase, and a new Elevation trim line replaces the previous SLE and SLT variants. An Ultimate version of the AT4 off-roader also joins the lineup, and every 2025 Yukon now comes with a 16.8” central display. New optional features include massaging and climatized seats for the first and second rows, a 22-speaker Bose audio system, and a Night Vision system.

2025 GMC Yukon Powertrain 8.5/10

2025 GMC Yukon - gmc.com

In Elevation and AT4 spec, the 2025 GMC Yukon comes with a 5.3L V8 making 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque that earns 17 mpg combined, regardless of drivetrain. The 6.2L V8, good for 420 hp and 460 torques, is included on Denali models and sees the same RWD fuel economy, a figure that drops by 1 mpg when 4WD is equipped.

Rated for 22-24 mpg combined, depending on drivetrain, the 3.0L Duramax turbodiesel inline-6 is the most frugal of the three available engines. Making 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of twist, it pairs with the same 10-speed automatic as the V8s. Four-wheel drive comes with the AT4 and Denali Ultimate Yukons, and can be added to the rest of the lineup for $3,000. As for towing, the Yukon maxes out at 8,400 pounds and comes standard with a 2” receiver and wiring harness.

2025 GMC Yukon Interior 8.75/10

The 2025 Yukon is huge inside, with 42” of second-row legroom, 35” in the third row, and 123 cubic feet of cargo space when those rows are folded down. If you need more space, the Yukon XL tacks on 15” of extra length and 22 more cubic feet of cargo space for a $3,000 upcharge. In either case, the new Yukon has a cabin that ranges from sumptuous to opulent.

Base models come with a CoreTec and leather-wrapped cabin, while top-spec Denali Ultimates feature full-grain leather, climate-controlled and massaging front seats, and the option to extend that setup to the second row. There is room for 8 with a second-row bench seat, or 7 when captain’s chairs are fitted, and every 2025 Yukon includes acoustic laminated front glass, triple zone automatic climate control, a power-folding third row, and a heated steering wheel.

2025 GMC Yukon Technology Features 8.5/10

2025 GMC Yukon - gmc.com

GMC ups the infotainment ante on its 2025 Yukon by fitting a standard 16.8” central touchscreen. Other included tech consists of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, Google built-in, a Bose 10-speaker audio system, and USB ports for all three rows of seating.

The roster of standard advanced safety systems is equally impressive as it includes forward collision mitigation, a lane-keeping system, blind-spot collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and GM’s Safety Alert Seat. The IIHS has not tested the fifth-gen Yukon, and although the NHTSA has not yet shared data on the 2025, but the 2024 Yukon earned 4 stars overall in the agency’s crash testing.

2025 GMC Yukon Trims & Pricing

Highlights of the 2025 Yukon Elevation include 20” wheels, a power-operated liftgate, LED headlights and taillamps with animation, and rain-sensing wipers. These base models also come with power-adjustable and heated front seats, heated second-row seats, a fully digital instrument panel, a pair of 120-volt power outlets, and a surround-view monitor.

2025 GMC Yukon AT4 - gmc.com

AT4 – $76,395

AT4 versions add off-road capability to the 2025 Yukon in the form of standard 4WD, a front skid plate, all-terrain tires, Hill Descent Control, and front-mounted recovery hooks. These Yukons also come with GM’s Magnetic Ride Control dampers, a hands-free liftgate, and leather upholstery.

2025 GMC Yukon Denali - gmc.com

Denali – $79,695

The high-end Denali spec brings the 6.2L V8, satin chrome exterior accents, a power-sliding center console, and a 15” multicolor head-up display. It also features heated and ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable steering column, and premium two-tone leather.

2025 GMC Yukon AT4 Ultimate - gmc.com

AT4 Ultimate – $96,495

Blending serious luxury with the adventure-ready design of the AT4, these Yukons come with an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, an adaptive air suspension, power-deployable side steps with LED illumination, and a panoramic moonroof. Cabin upgrades range from massaging front seats to a Bose 18-speaker system and Super Cruise hands-free driving tech.

2025 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate - gmc.com

Denali Ultimate – $102,495

Stepping on the toes of its corporate cousin, the Cadillac Escalade, on the price front, the high-dollar Yukon Denali Ultimate boasts 24” rims, exclusive Vader exterior trim, and the option to add an Executive 2nd Row package. It boasts massaging and climate-controlled rear seats and a Bose audio system with 22 components, including within the front seat headrests.

2025 GMC Yukon Overall Value 8.5/10

If you’re shopping the GMC Yukon over the Chevy Tahoe, we’d say why not go for the Denali model? It’s a GMC signature trim line and for 2025 comes loaded with luxury. However, the 2025 Jeep Wagoneer Series III is thousands less, has a twin-turbo inline-6 that makes similar power to the Denali’s V8 but offers better fuel economy, comes similarly equipped, and can tow 10,000 pounds. GMC offers a longer powertrain warranty than Jeep at 5 years, but the Wagoneer comes with 3 years of complimentary maintenance versus just a single free service visit for the Yukon.

When the Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade first overlapped 20-plus years ago, the badge-engineering efforts were lukewarm, especially between the Tahoe and Yukon. As of 2025, GMC has dramatically improved its abilities to take a Chevy Tahoe’s running rear and sell it for more money with the Yukon treatment. And in fairness, this latest variant seems to justify its premium price tag with a long list of upgrades over the cheaper Tahoe.

Nonetheless, you can still get the Tahoe, with its identical powertrain offerings and strong roster of content for less, or you can step up to the Escalade for a seriously fancy SUV. It all adds up to a tough value proposition for the 2025 GMC Yukon. An excellent SUV to be sure, but you might want to look at a lightly used Yukon to shift that value equation into a more favorable position.
