NASCAR has some of the most devout fans in all of motorsports. Long after these drivers leave the sport, fans are still proudly wearing their favorite driver’s merch and collecting memorabilia. You can find NASCAR fans wearing shirts and hats of Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Rusty Wallace, Tony Stewart, tons of Dale Earnhardt Sr., and so many more classic racers everywhere you look. There is one driver in particular who left a huge mark on NASCAR and his fan base is one if not the largest in the motorsport. He was one of the most popular motorsports figures throughout his career and you can still feel it to this day. I’m of course talking about Jeff Gordon. His Dupont number 24 car is one of the most recognizable in motorsports history. Whether it’s the classic rainbow or the flame scheme, you know whose racecar it is. We’re talking about this NASCAR legend and also checking out a great fan tribute truck that carries one of his iconic paint schemes.

Jeff Gordon: A NASCAR Icon

Jeff Gordon started his racing passion at five years old, speeding around a homemade racetrack created by his stepfather. He went on to dominate quarter midget races at an early age and moved up into full-sized sprint cars by 13. After having won the 1990 USAC National Midget Series Championship and amassing an astonishing open wheel racing record at such a young age, Jeff Gordon went on to search for opportunities in stock car racing. After taking part in the Buck Baker Driving School, he would enter a couple of races for the 1990 Busch Grand National division. Gordon went on to race for Bill Davis in the number one car for 1991 and gained the admiration of Rick Hendrick after the young racing star took the pole position as well as win the first ever Busch Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 1992.

Jeff Gordon quickly amassed a huge fan base as he entered the NASCAR Cup Series under Hendrick Motorsports. His accomplishments over the course of his illustrious NASCAR career include 1991 Busch Series Rookie of the Year, 1993 Winston Cup Series Rookie of the Year, three-time Daytona 500 winner, youngest driver ever to win a NASCAR Cup Series championship, four-time Cup Series champion, and has been inducted into multiple motorsports hall of fames including NASCAR’s in 1019. Gordon left NASCAR after the 2015 season but kept himself active within business as a sports commentator for Fox Sports and now a part owner of Hendrick Motorsports.

Now, I’m personally a huge Jeff Gordon fan. Have been since I first started watching NASCAR. So, getting my hands on this tribute to my favorite NASCAR driver would be awesome. This 1997 single cab Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado from Streetside Classic Cars has been given the full Jeff Gordon treatment. It carries a similar flame paintjob that was first seen on Gordon’s car starting in the 2001 season. It not only has the big Dupont logos and the yellow number 24 on the doors, but the previous owner also positioned small advertisement and parts manufacturer stickers along the bottom of the truck similar to the real stock car.

This is more than a paintjob though. This truck has some great aftermarket, racing style wheels installed wrapped in new Cooper Cobra rubber. There has also been a roof mounted spoiler and a tonneau cover installed to add to this truck’s racing appearance. This truck also looks to be mechanically sound given its age. The undercarriage has a few minor rust spots, but I’ve seen so much worse. Under the hood there’s a 5.0L Vortex V8 that’ll give this truck a nice rumble and plenty of power to get those rear wheels spinning for a Gordon-esque burnout.

Inside this C/K is a nice Silverado optioned interior with bench seating that looks virtually brand new still. Not much has been done to the interior aside from a Jeff Gordon autograph decal on the glove box. This truck also comes with a matching Jeff Gordon jacket and a Jeff Gordon race suit. With only 39,040 miles on the odometer and how clean a truck it is, this 1997 Chevy C/K 1500 is already a great little classic. Add on all the great Jeff Gordon additions and you have possibly one of the greatest pieces of NASCAR memorabilia to take to the track. Only thing left to do is get a real signature from the man himself!
