You’ve no doubt heard about the popular video game Fortnite. The cartoony Battle Royale game burst onto the scene back in 2017 and has been climbing ever since. In the beginning, the only form of transportation was the flying Battle Bus at the start of games and pushable shopping carts. There were cars and trucks scattered around Fortnite in the early seasons, but players couldn’t drive them.
In Chapter 2 Season 3, Fortnite eventually gained drivable cars. While these Fortnite cars may not have real manufacturer names attached to them, they do bear a striking resemblance of real-world examples. So, here’s the rundown of all the Fortnite cars in real life. Maybe you can find your very own Battle Bus after this?
Fortnite has some specific cars that players can interact with in some way. Whether it’s driving, riding, or even healing, players can utilize these main Fortnite cars in the game.
The Islander Prevalent is the generic vehicle of Fortnite. It’s kind of like the Fortnite world’s version of the Toyota Camry in the real world. It can be easily found all over the map as either a drivable vehicle or a piece of the scenery. At first glance, you could mistake this thing for a Subaru Impreza. Although, its body lines also resemble that of some modern-day crossovers like the BMW X6, especially with the Off-Road Tires vehicle mod that lifts the ride height a bit.
Now, the Fortnite Taxi is supposed to be just a reskinned Islander Prevalent, but that front end is a little different. That car bra over the bubble headlights and that alternate crossbar grille design makes the Taxi look very similar to the Dodge Neon. Sadly, it’s not an SRT-4 though since it’s missing the hood scoop.
The OG Bear is designed like an old farm truck, but more specifically, an early 70s Ford F-250. The square body is the same, grille pattern is nearly identical, the rear taillights match, and it even comes in that classic two-tone paintjob. Plus, that Ford truck engine sound is unmistakable (although Fortnite’s version sounds straight piped). The Bear is great for riding off-road in the game, especially with some added Off-Road Tires.
Every good game featuring drivable cars needs a supercar option. For Fortnite, it’s the Victory Motors Whiplash. The fastest vehicle in the game looks like a mix between a Lamborghini Countach and a Lancia Stratos homologation rally car. The Whiplash could also be considered a super hero car now since you could find Iron Man’s customized one on the map.
If you need to ram through another player’s build in Fortnite, you’re going to want the Titano Mudflap. This large semi-truck has the highest damage among all vehicles and also has the capability to pull trailers. As far as it’s real-world representation, it looks like a Kenworth T800 with some added flair. Add those Off-Road Tires and it changes to a Kenworth C500 that can really plow through the trees.
The Reboot Van isn’t a drivable vehicle, but it does play an important role to Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode. A team can grab a players Reboot Card after they go down and take it to one of these Reboot Vans allowing them to bring their team mate back into the game. The Reboot Van itself looks like a GMC Safari cargo van, but with a lot of cartoony tech slapped on it. The same van model can be seen when Doctor Slone addresses the other characters of Fortnite in the intro to Season 7: Invasion.
Fortnite actually struck a deal and brought a real car into the game! The Ferrari 296 GTB has a newly developed mid-engine 120-degree V6 twin turbocharged engine paired with a plug-in electric motor that together generate 819 horsepower and 546 lb-ft of torque. With 0-60 mph times of under 3 seconds, this thing will more than likely be the new fastest Fortnite car in the game. Can’t wait to try it out while wearing the matching Ferrari skins that were released.
Chapter five, season one introduced the Grandeur Trailsmasher. This luxury styled SUV is used by The Society in game and it’s great for destroying obstacles across different terrains. The blacked-out Fortnite SUV is obviously designed to resemble the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon with its emphasis on luxury and the boxy appearance. I’m surprised Mercedes-Benz didn’t jump on this one for a little cross-promotional marketing like Ferrari had not too long ago
The JDM inspired Nitro Drifter was introduced to Fortnite during Chapter Four, Season 2. This is a highly modified version of the Islander Prevalent that features an exposed intercooler, added front aero, a roof scoop, and a giant turbocharger popping out of the hood. This may be the closest we’ll see to Formula Drift in Fortnite… for now!
The Nitro Fang was introduced in Chapter four, season four and looks close to a ‘71 AMC Javelin AMX with that unique grille, the front air splitter, decklid spoiler, and those unique body curves. In game, the Nitro Fang is a fast car in a straight line and can get an added speed boost if you pull the handbrake.
Introduced in Chapter 5, Season 3, the Behemoth is a battle ready SUV that can be found in the Car Vault at Brutal Beachhead. If you remove the spikey front bumper armor, roof mounted grenade launcher, toothy front grille, and some of the other aggressive accessories, you end up with the Trailsmasher SUV.
Another new vehicle from Chapter 5, Season 3 is Lockjaw. This muscle car inspired vehicle can only be found in Car Vaults at Nitrodome or Redline Rig. Lockjaw has been given the Death Race treatment like the Behemoth – big spike covered front bumper, roof mounted machine gun, extra armor pieces, and some heat shrouded exhaust pipes sticking out of the hood. There’s not really anything exactly like Lockjaw in the real world, but the side profile and the angular rear glass leans towards the muscle cars of the ’80s like the Buick Grand National or Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
Finally, the vehicle that’s been there from the beginning, the Battle Bus. This air balloon powered flying school bus plays a large part in the Battle Royale mode. The Battle Bus hauls players in a straight line across the map allowing the players to choose where they drop. In real life, the Battle Bus is an International 3000 Series passenger bus that’s been painted blue instead of the classic school bus yellow. The War Bus first seen in Chapter 5: Season 3 is the same model but given a more apocalyptic appearance.
Chapter Five, Season One of Fortnite introduced a crossover with Rocket League called Rocket Racing. This new arcade racer that’s been baked into Fortnite brings the rocket powered soccer player cars we’ve come to love and puts them on the track for some exciting racing. The plan is to introduce most if not all Rocket League cars, decals, and wheels to Rocket Racing, but not every pack will be available in Fortnite.
This update didn’t just bring Rocket League cars for their own side-game, it also introduced new car body cosmetics that can be used in the Battle Royal mode outside of Rocket Racing. These alternate car skins can be used to convert the Whiplash or Trailsmasher vehicles into whatever you have selected from your inventory. These new cosemetics can be found as Battle Pass rewards, available for V-Bucks in the shop, or awarded through in-game challenges. You can see what some of those Rocket League car bodies resemble in real life here, but here’s the current list of all the new Fortnite specific car bodies.
Diesel takes on the looks of a futuristic take on the ‘71 Plymouth GTX with a supercharger popping out of the hood. It’s only available through the item shop for V-Bucks and comes with six new decals specific to the model.
The new Scorpion Rocket Racing body also takes on some vintage muscle car aesthetics, this time resembling the ‘67 Pontiac Firebird. The Scorpion can currently only be acquired through this season’s Battle Pass, so it may be the only chance at this Rocket Racing body. There are also three unlockable decals for it through the same Battle Pass progression.
Alright, the Lamborghini skin was a thing in Rocket League before Fortnite but just wanted to note it here given that the first official automotive brand to join Fortnite was their rival – Ferrari. Lamborghini continues to be a thorn in Ferrari’s side even in the video game world as now both these two have driven around the Battle Royal landscape.
Not to be outdone, McLaren also made its way into the digital world of Fortnite with their 765LT as a car body. Speed over Foxy Floodgate and experience the actual sounds of the twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine found in this McLaren supercar.
Toyota hasn’t brought the Supra to Fortnite (yet), but the Fuse at least gets close to introducing the MK 2 generation to the game. This car skin features the same style as that of the early ‘80s Supra with its pop-up headlights and more angular proportions. Now if we could get some winding roads down a mountain, we could have a touge drifting experience in the middle of the Battle Royale.
Fortnite isn’t just full of skins for you Star Wars fans out there, they’ve also added the fandom’s very own car. The Beskar car body is a coupe that’s inspired by the Mandalorian series. It’s base design relates to the Mandalorian main character’s armor with its silver paint job inspired by the fantasy metal from the series – Beskar. This car body also has variants that are references to other Mandalorian characters, namely Sabine Wren, The Armorer, Bo-Katan, and Boba Fett. As for a real-life counterpart, this model holds some similarities to the Toyota FT-Se concept or the Cadillac Expressive concept.
The Behemoth car body takes on similar looks to the Behemoth that can be found on the map, but it loses some of its more aggressive features. Since this is basically a Trailsmasher in disguise, there isn’t a grenade launcher or extra health. This car body looks like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV again, just with headers sticking out the sides and teeth in place of the standard front fascia design.
Like the Behemoth, the Lockjaw has a car body version that removes all the armor and its machine gun. Like the Car Vault version on the Battle Royale map, the Lockjaw holds some similarities to vehicles like the Buick Grand National. It has the right passenger window layout, the “power bulge” hood, and the rear lights are almost identical. Just remove the fender armor and those rear window louvers.
This sports car may have landed in the world of Fortnite, but it can actually be bought straight from your local Nissan dealer. The Nissan Z Performance is the latest iteration of the Fairlady Z lineage and is the most potent version of the sports car (outside of the NISMO). In real life, the Z Performance features a 400-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 that’s able to launch the vehicle from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds. Too bad that, just like the one in Fortnite, the Performance version is only available as an automatic.
Speaking of the Fairlady Z, Fortnite slipped in an homage to the original in Chapter 5, Season 3. This is a original Nissan Fairlady Z design, the same car we in America knew as the 240Z, but a JDM variant as evidence by the fender mounted side mirrors. Fortnite clearly had some fun modifying this example as its not true to stock with the added LED headlights, modern 6-spoke wheels, fender flares, and revised front and rear bumpers. Fun fact, one of the liveries available for this car body is the “Starting Grid” and is a reference to the East African Safari winning 240Z back in 1971.
When Metallica hit Fortnite, they brought along their own heavy metal vehicle to the game. Backfire is technically a Rocket League car originally, but the hot rodded Ford Model A design was a big part of the Metallica Quests update, so we’ll let it slide.
Love it or hate it, the steel bodied, angular electric truck from Tesla is in Fortnite. The Cybertruck was introduced in Chapter 5, Season 3 to both excitement and dismay. The Fortnite version of the Cybertruck looks almost identical to the real thing and was probably easy to design given its already angular proportions. In game, this truck doesn’t use the traditional revving of a gas engine but instead adds an almost silent hum while being driven. The tonneau cover is always open so passengers can ride in back and the windows are easily breakable (to Elon’s disappointment).
BMW hit Fortnite in Season 4 of Chapter 5 with the BMW 1 Series. If you’re in North America, you have no idea what this subcompact Beamer is, but most of the rest of the world has enjoyed this hatchback for years. The Fortnite version is the newest F70 generation that debuted in 2024. It’s only available as a hatchback around the world and comes either as FWD or AWD.
BMW also brought the M240i to Fortnite, a model more recognizable to North American audiences. This car body original debuted in Rocket League, but it’s moved over to the Battle Royale game now. Now the power of M performance can be felt while cruising around Seaport City.
Redline showed up as a car body in Chapter 5, Season 4. This sleek looking ride takes inspiration from two General Motors sports cars in particular, the C4 Corvette and the third-gen Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.
I always thought Dom’s Charger would be the first car in Fortnite but that honor actually belongs to Brian’s Skyline. The Fast & Furious Nissan Skyline Bundle adds the R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R from 2 Fast 2 Furious to Fortnite. Its the same model seen in Rocket League, but now you can take it around the map while blaring Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again while holding back tears.
McLaren came third when it came to entering Fortnite, but it beat both Ferrari and Lamborghini when it came to introducing another car to the game. The McLaren Senna in Fortnite looks almost identical to the real world super car and it even features engine sounds from its twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8. Fortnite really pushed the term “super car” too by adding a Marvel’s Iron Man themed skin for the Senna.
Snoop Dogg jumped into the world of Fortnite during Chapter 2 Remix and he brought along with him his own low rider. The “Snoop Deville” was a 1966 Cadillac Deville low rider that he famously cruised around in with 50 Cent for the P.I.M.P. song. The 1966 Cadillac Deville takes on a more basic appearance initially, but the iconic pin stripping around the vehicle can be via additional cosmetics. This low rider Caddy also added a new feature – hydraulics. Now you can hop your ride and “drop it like it’s hot” in true Snoop Dogg fashion.
Porsche has entered the chat. Chapter 2 Remix introduced the Porsche 911 GT3 RS to Fortnite. Along with Porsche’s debut came Porsche themed gliders and skins to match their new ride in Battle Royale. Take this 518-horsepower sports coupe around the map or show off its track readiness in Rocket Racing.
The Dodge Charger has come to Fortnite – just not the classic one. The Fast & Furious Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is a replica of the same car that Dominic Toretto is seen driving when he isn’t behind the wheel of his ’70 Dodge Charger R/T. At least you can enjoy the whine from the supercharger in game just like the real Charger SRT Hellcat does from its supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 engine.
The Void Burn brings more iconic sports car flare to the roads of Fortnite. This drift focused whip looks like it takes inspiration from a few beloved sports cars. Specifically, the Mazda RX-7 FD3S, Lexus LFA, and the rear end is reminiscent of the Audi R8.
There are some interesting cars sitting around the Fortnite world that don’t serve an actual purpose other than to look lived in. Here’s the non-interactable Fortnite Cars we found in the game.
There’s a classic muscle car that can be found on the map that strongly resembles a ‘67 Dodge Charger. I’m surprised that Fortnite didn’t team up with Fast & Furious yet to make Dom’s Charger an available Fortnite car, especially since this is just sitting there.
Nothing like an old pickup truck. While the drivable truck in the game is heavily Ford influenced, the scenery car is heavily Chevrolet influenced. This little classic truck takes a lot of its inspiration from the Chevrolet Apache Trucks from the late ‘50s.
There are some low rider type cars parked around Fortnite that look a lot like an old Buick Electra sedan. Maybe one day Fortnite players can pop the hydraulics in one of these, but for now, they’re only good for materials.
The classic family wagon can be found in Fortnite. The design is a little more excessively cartoony than some of the other Fortnite cars, but it carries a lot of the same lines that you’d find on a Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Wagon.
There’s some stationary Prevalant cars that can be found in Fortnite that take on a lot of similarities to Subaru’s Crosstrek Overlander concept car. Maybe Fortnite will gain some vehicle skins to unlock that can make this thing drivable when you enter a Prevalant.
You can find food trucks scattered all throughout the Fortnite game with each having their own distinct design to go with one of the fictional food brands. For the most part though, they all use the same car underneath all that customization, and that’s the Ford E-350 breadtruck.
Along some of the rivers and campground locations you can find some RVs parked. They’re styled after the camping icon known as the Winnebago Itasca RV.
The Battle Bus isn’t the only bus found in Fortnite. There are some transit buses that can be found in Fortnite that look very similar to a Marin Transit Bus.
Update? We have Rocket Racing cars now.
What about the Behemoth?
